Revolutionary War Records FREE on Fold3 Until July 15

For anyone who might have missed the news (like I did), fold3 is offering free access to their Revolutionary War records through July 15, 2012.
Examples of documents in this collection include Revolutionary War pension files, court appearances, payment vouchers and war rolls. These are all digital images of original documents, not transcriptions or abstracts. You’ll want to get your hands on these records, believe me!

Elizabeth is a professional genealogist, writer, and consultant. Likes: long walks in the cemetery, and the smell of old courthouse books. Dislikes: people who copy stuff off the internet without giving credit, and county clerks who can't tell the difference between Eastern and Pacific time zones. Secretly hopes her daughter will one day develop an interest in family history (but no luck so far).

  1. I love looking at war records. They can be so enlightening about your ancestor. I wish I found this post earlier as I would have liked to check out the free records on Fold3.

You may still be able to get free access to revolutionary pension records. Perhaps your local or state laibrary has a subscription to Heritage Quest. If they do you can likely access these for free without going to your local library. If you live in Connecticut where I’m from all you need to access this for free is your library card.
