I'll be honest: December sucked.
Ok, to be fair, the first part of December was pretty good. It was the latter couple of weeks that sucked.
Because that is when I got slammed with the Virus From Hell (henceforth known as VFH).
VFH made my Christmas miserable, my New Year's miserable, and everything in between miserable. Even today, almost 3 weeks later, I still have a sore throat, and I still don't completely have my voice back (something that I'm sure thrills my family to no end). I can breathe - finally - but I'm still having nightmares about those nasty commercials where the mucus creatures take up residence in a person's sinuses. I was starting to think they'd come to live with me permanently.
So long story short... I do not have enough brain cells functioning to prepare this week's list of Best Bytes, and I am extending my
In the meantime, I highly recommend that you check out the weekly picks of Randy Seaver, Diane Haddad, Megan Smolenyak, Susan Petersen, Greta Koehl, Donna Pointkouski, and the Follow Friday posts listed on Geneabloggers.
Happy reading - and stay well out there!

Will miss your "Best Bytes" and hope that you get to feeling better soon! Take care of yourself...
I feel your pain. I'm on week three of VFH, third trip to urgent care, and on my second antibiotic. I wish you hadn't mentioned those mucus creatures, I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight. Sleep, rest, let your family take care of you and I hope you feel better soon.
Here's hoping you're at the end of it. I, too, had the VFH a couple of months ago...thankfully before the holidays. My prayers are with you.
We too had a visit from the VFH. Thankfully it has moved out of our house, at least for now. I hope you feel better soon.
Get well soon! Jo
Man, what an extreme bummer! Is there any worse time to be sick than during the holidays? I don't think so. You really have my sympathy. As you know, my hubs came down with the VFH during the holidays too but he's been pretty much recovered (except for the lingering cough) for a while now. I am truly sorry to hear that your VFH is still lingering.
Wishing you better days, soon!
Sorry to hear this and hoping you get well soon. VFH used to visit our house almost every Christmas when my girls were little.
I hope you are feeling better soon. Real soon. Mom's aren't really allowed to be sick...
I remember when the VFH would visit our family every December, usually right before Christmas. Just in time to really mess things up.
Thanks so much for the well-wishes, everyone. And I sure feel the pain of those of you also hit with VFH during the holidays (or any other time). It sucks, as I said.
I'm feeling much better, but still battling the sore throat, especially at night. Probably doing to much talking, or loudly suggesting that my daughter NOT do something (moms will understand). Thankfully the rest of my family seems to be in good health. I'm hoping to finally get a flu shot once VFH gets out of my house completely.
I truly enjoy reading your blog! I am pronouncing you "Ancestor Approved" ... the image and information is on my blog at http://aremyrootsshowing.blogspot.com/2011/01/ancestor-approved-again.html
Congrats!
Feel better. I look forward to your upcoming posts.
