When I read the theme for the 44th Carnival of Genealogy, A Tribute to Women, I was unsure if I would be able to participate without turning into a puddle on the floor.
You see, the woman who has made the greatest impact on my life was my mother.
Unfortunately, she died almost 7 years ago from Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), following what should have been a routine back surgery. A surgery that should have relieved her intense pain and made her life bearable... but which, instead, killed her.
To this day, I'm still so very sad and angry. My mother will never know her granddaughter, whom she would have loved so much, and my daughter will never know her grandmother. Everyday I have to fight back the grief.
So, this is my tribute to my mother, Judith Ann Dagle. She would have been 67 years old on Sunday, March 16, 2008.
I hope that what I am not able to say in words, I will be able to say in pictures.

This beautiful video is one way to insure your daughter will have a chance to get to know her grandmother. The stories behind each photo will be great treasures for each of you. Thank you for sharing with all of us.
Elizabeth, I'm just in tears as I watched this loving tribute to a beautiful woman who obviously cherished you. You have to know that she is watching over you and your little girl and one day, they will meet. Hugs, Miriam
Elizabeth:
It is obvious watching the photos that your Mother was very proud of you.
She would have been equally proud of the tribute you created for her.
I have an Elizabeth and I can only hope she feels the same way about me.

Well now I'm a puddle too - but that's cool with me - there are times when we just need to be puddles since it is cathartic.
Tributes to Moms are difficult but necessary - as the other commenters have said, it leaves a record to pass on to our children and others.
